The Spanish town of Nerja is situated on the coastal base of the Sierra de Amijara mountain range, on the eastern end of the Costa del Sol. Just a 45 minute drive from Malaga airport.

Once a sleepy fishing village, Nerja has now grown to a local population of over 20,000. Although having grown in size recently,many of its local attractions still remain as Nerja has resisted in high rise concrete buildings, so prevelant to other coastal towns on the Costa del Sol.
The old quarter of the town has remained virtually untouched with it's narrow streets leading down to the main square and Balcon de Europa. This being the focal point of the town of Nerja and where the Tourist information office can be found.
A cross section of street entertainers can be found here during the holiday season and at weekends of the quieter times.
Standing on the Balcon de Europa, you will see a sample of the beauty this region of the Costa del Sol has to offer.
With a wide selection of restaurants and cafes nearby, offering a wide range of cuisine. It's easy to wile away the hours just watching the world go by.
The 17th century Church of El Salavador is located within a one minute walk from the square.
The Gardens of Capistrano Playa are one of the many beautiful sights on offer along the variety of coastal and town walks.
Walking down the steps from the Gardens of Capistrano Playa you will find yourself at Burriana Playa. This being the most popular of the many beaches and coves Nerja has to offer.
The most famous of Nerja's attractions has to be the Caves of Nerja, which are situated just 3 kilometers from the town centre.
These include pre-historic remains and paintings of over 20,000 years old. One of the natural caverns has been transformed into an enormous concert hall. Where a selection of perfomances are held during the summer months.
Nerja also has a square for the younger holiday maker.
Plaza Tutti Frutti is located to the west of the town centre and really comes to life at around midnight, going through to five or six o' clock the following morning. Although lively, it is not in keeping with the more popular nightlife resorts of the Spanish Costa's.
With Costa water sports, golf and even skiing on offer within easy reach. Nerja has something to offer almost everyone.
